Thompson floated as veep

Fred Thompson's name just won't go away from the presidential contest.

Gary Bauer, a McCain supporter and prominent evangelical Christian leader, saysa John McCain-Fred Thompson GOP ticket would be a dynamic duo. He says McCain and Thompson's meeting over the weekend has only fueled speculation about whether the former Tennessee senator is on McCain's short list of possible vice-presidential running mates.

Thompson meets the qualifications for a vice president -- he has a pulse. He also has experience in accepting a higher job when someone else stepped down, as he did in taking the role of elder prosecutor on Law & Order.

But even with that, Thompson would make about as good a veep as he did a presidential candidate and that's not saying much. Thompson's half-hearted run for president tarnished his brand and that means he wouldn't bring much to the party if McCain were to select him.

Thompson's main value to the race now is that he can get the McCain campaign a little free ink on a few news cycles and he isn't likely to bring in the evangelical right that McCain needs to win to pull together the GOP.

Well, well Mr. Jimmy.

It's always fun to watch somebody who could have kept their mouth shut to leave people just thinking you're an idiot than to open your mouth and remove ALL doubt.

Thank you for being the country's fool.

McCain has been putting much more conservative ideas out lately. Meeting with Thompson over and again (we already know they are good friends)... and Thompson brings what McCain can't... clear conservative values. Winghunter is a babbling idiot... this duo makes since, and I look forward to hearing the great news from John himself!
